River Canvas
Whether it’s river as a metaphor, rivers of mythology, or something as mundane as transportation, ‘the river’ has always been present in our lives and consciousness.
Rather than painting a picture of the water, this ‘river canvas‘ uses the power of the current to shape and edit. Adding color and pattern with microorganisms, current wear and tear, worn and ripped by abrasion, rocks and floating debris. The river does its part and does what rivers typically do.
Dried and ironed, the remnant canvas becomes the centerpiece of a discussion on erosion, pollution, flooding, recreation, echoing the interaction and intersection of our life in conjunction with water.
Today we find ourselves ever presently, with a diminishing abundance of clean water, and a marked increase in the effects of rising water levels.
